There is a pallet deposit of Fifteen Dollars ($15.00), return in 15 days for full credit, 30 days for half credit, over 30 days no refund.  You must have a receipt if not on account.

To determine how much sod is required, multiply the length by the width of the area which needs to be sodded and divide the result by 9. This will indicate how many pieces you will need.

Delivery is available for quantities over 70 plus square yards. Delivery rates are determined based on site's distance from farm. Delivery cost includes fork lift for pallet placement, provided desired location is safely accessible.

Sod Care:

The area that needs to be sodded should have a nice grade, meaning no high or low spots. All objects over 1" in diameter must be removed so that there is a good surface-to-soil contact. Sod may also be laid over existing grass but you must first scalp the area to be sodded by cutting with mower set to its lowest possible setting. Turpin Farms does recommend a light application of turf fertilizer to the area to be sodded prior to laying sod. This will enable the nutrients to be more readily available to the sod's root system.

Care of Sod:

Once the sod is laid, you must thoroughly soak with water. You will need to water your new sod every day or two, depending on the air temperature. Your sod will knit down in 7-14 days, also dependant on the weather, at which time it ill be ready to begin mowing. Fertilize your lawn in the late fall and early spring because this is the time of year when the sod root system undergoes the greatest development. The denser the turf, the more difficult it will be for weeds to grow through.

Tips:

Lay sod like brick work, in a staggered pattern like on the adjacent picture.
You can cut sod to any shape needed, using a sharp knife and slicing from
the back side/dirt side of sod.

Both Bluegrass and Fescue sod does well in full sun or up to 60 % shade. As you approach 60 % shade, Fescue/Blue Grass mix will hold its density better than Bluegrass.

1 piece = 9 sq. ft.

Watering:

When you water your established lawn, apply 1/2 " of water, then allow the lawn to dry out. By watering like this, your lawn will become less dependent on you for water.

Insects:

Apply insecticide during the last two weeks of April. Repeat application in middle May.
